Stellar Blade PS5 PC 1

Stellar Blade has done so well for itself since release that Shift Up CEO Hyung-tae Kim has been awarded a presidential commendation award by the president of South Korea.

Awarded at the Korea Content Awards last week, it is designed to recognise Kim’s “consistent efforts to strengthen the global competitiveness of Korean game intellectual property (IP) since founding Shift Up. This is “based on his creative capabilities accumulated over a long period of time in the Korean game development field”.

Kim said the award is the result of all the fans and developers who have believed in Shift Up. “We will continue to do our best to further promote the competitiveness of Korean games on the global stage.”

On the back of its success, Shift Up is expanding its horizons for future games like Project Spirits, which will come to PC, consoles, and smartphones with the help of Tencent. There’s also a Stellar Blade sequel in the works, and it is said to be launching in the next couple of years.

Stellar Blade quickly became a fan-favourite amongst PS5 owners, and has expanded to PC in the years since, where it sold well enough to be called Sony’s most successful single player game published on the platform to date. Total sales combined across PS5 and PC are at more than three million units.

In our Stellar Blade PS5 review, we awarded the very stylish action game an 8/10 and called it a “slick console debut”. We continued: “With an ever-evolving counter-attacking combat system, some superb art direction, and a sensational soundtrack, this is the kind of back-to-basics PS5 outing that fans have been pleading for.”

Liam grew up with a PlayStation controller in his hands and a love for Metal Gear Solid. Nowadays, he’s found playing the latest and greatest PS5 games as well as supporting Derby County. That last detail is his downfall.
