Al Falah University chief accused of dishonestly collecting Rs 415 crore from students, says agency
Al Falah University chief accused of dishonestly collecting Rs 415 crore from students, says agency

Security agencies have intensified checks at Al Falah University in the aftermath of the car blast near Delhi’s Red Fort earlier this month, placing over 200 doctors and staff members under scrutiny. The increased surveillance has triggered unease among students, employees and residents linked to the institution.

University staff leave campus amid continued checks

Investigators have been visiting the campus regularly, prompting several staff members to leave the premises with their belongings and head home. According to university sources, agencies are looking into the number of people who left the institution after the November 10 blast, suspecting that some individuals may have had links to the attackers.

Officials also revealed that many individuals had deleted data from their mobile phones, a matter now under investigation. Hostels and off-campus accommodations of students are being searched, and more than 1,000 people have been questioned so far.

Woman who rented room to bomber detained

A 35-year-old woman from Nuh, who had rented a room to suicide bomber Dr Umar Un Nabi in Hidayat Colony, has been detained. An anganwadi worker, she had reportedly been missing since the Delhi blast. Her family is also under investigation, as agencies questioned at least seven individuals from the area to trace Umar’s connections.

Investigators found that Umar used multiple mobile phones while staying in Nuh.

Drop in patient footfall at Al Falah hospital

Following revelations of suspected terror links involving individuals associated with Al Falah Medical College, the hospital’s outpatient department has seen a sharp decline in visitors. Sources stated that the usual 200 daily OPD footfall had fallen to fewer than 100.

Some doctors doing their apprenticeship at the hospital told investigators that Umar had been absent for around six months in 2023 without applying for leave. Despite this prolonged absence, they said he resumed duty without facing any disciplinary action. Umar reportedly taught very few classes, often taking short lectures before returning to his room. Doctors also noted that he was almost always assigned evening or night shifts, never morning duty.

Multiple agencies set up temporary command centre

Teams from the NIA, Delhi Police Special Cell, Uttar Pradesh ATS, Faridabad Crime Branch and Jammu and Kashmir Police have been frequently visiting the campus. On Tuesday, the Enforcement Directorate also arrived at the university. All teams have jointly set up a temporary command centre inside the premises as the investigation expands.
